If there is anything cheesy about my blog, it is that I like cheesy quotes. For today’s post I’m sharing three of my favorites.
I’ve said them before and I’ve said them again. I’ve also said them more times than I would care to admit.
The first one is from the movie ‘The Karate Kid’. It’s what we call the “Karate Kid quote”. The second one comes from the movie ‘The Lion King’. The third one, the one I just realized I said a few lines ago, is from the movie ‘South Park’.
The first thing I want you to know about is that if you don’t see The Lion King, The Karate Kid, or South Park in theaters, then you should probably go see them in the theater. The first two movies are classic examples of kids who can not get enough of their favorite parts of the movie. It’s almost like they were written for kids who are so young that they don’t realize the depth of the things they’re seeing.
The movie South Park is an example of this. The movie is a comedy about two nerds that have no life, and their friendship is based on the internet. The first movie had two main characters, a lovable main character and a villain that is an idiot. The second movie had none of the main character’s friends as the main characters. It was based on a joke that was made in the first movie, so it wasnt a comedy.
In the real world, it’s the same thing. I was in an improv class recently, and the teacher told us how funny it is when students make their own line. When one student says, “I’d like to go to the dog park with a knife”, the whole class is laughing.
We were having fun, and everyone seemed to be pretty happy and ready to jump up and down. “What’s wrong with me?” the kid said. “You’re just not interested to get to know.
But hey, its one of those jokes that’s not totally off-the-cuff, but still funny. I think the real world, while still funny, more often is not.
