I have been told many times that the saying, “I can’t be bothered, I’m too busy to do anything” is a myth. Maybe it is, but I think it is still a truth. You are too busy to be lazy! You could work less, but you would probably be less productive. In fact, you probably wouldn’t have as many opportunities to be creative and productive.
The trouble with the saying is that it pretty much applies to all of us in some way. You are probably constantly doing something because you have to. You are not being lazy. Although you may be having productive conversations, you are probably not doing creative things. You are probably not making the best cupcakes. You are probably not writing the best blog posts. You are probably not doing anything you want to do. You are probably not taking care of yourself.
It’s pretty much always the case and there is no getting around it. It’s hard to not do something because you think you should. It’s hard to not do something because you think you should. We are all of these things to some degree. I can’t count how many times I’ve told myself, “I don’t need to clean my apartment. I don’t need to cook dinner. I don’t need to write something.
If you can do something you want to do, and not think you should, then you’ll never do it. You can’t avoid “shoulds” if you are going to live life. When we say we want to do things, we are usually not thinking if we should or not. The thing is, many of us do think we should and so we do. And our thoughts and actions are often the result of that.
The problem is there is a whole lot of things we don’t want to do, and we don’t want to think about doing. We like to be comfortable with ourselves, but this is bad, because once we get comfortable with ourselves, we can often slip back into the old ways. We can be so comfortable living and eating in our own little bubble, so to speak, that we do not realize what is actually happening. There is a fine line, but it is a very important one.
It seems to be a good idea to set our boundaries. If we want to live in that bubble, we should be aware of what is actually going on around us. If we want to eat a cupcake, we should ask ourselves, “Why am I eating this? What is it made of? What is inside?” We should be asking ourselves these questions, so we can make informed decisions.
The issue here is that there are plenty of people out there who will tell you that you need to live in a bubble so you can be well-adjusted and fit into society. These people are usually very condescending and often just want to make you feel bad for whatever reason you may have come up with.
The fact is that most people are just as human as the next person who has a cupcake in their mouth. A lot of people are just as happy to eat cupcakes as you are.
Yes, there are cupcakes around who are just as happy to eat cupcakes as you are. In fact, it’s often the case that they are less happy to eat cupcakes than other people because they are afraid of it.
Cupcakes are basically the perfect cake. It’s light, fluffy, and yummy. But they’re also full of sugar and fat, and that makes them fattening, and they make you feel bad about your waistline. So you eat them because you’re too lazy to take the time to cook them yourself. The same is true for cookies, cakes, and ice cream.
