This is a quote from a book called The Secret Life of Bees where the author says, “I am not a bad person, I am just a bad bee.” I can’t think of a happier person. This is the second time in a row I’ve said this.
I feel like this book has been written by people who care a lot about making a lot of money. The author is talking about the fact that bee keepers spend money on their employees and the bees who live in the hive are not happy. I think the author doesn’t realise how sad it is that we think that bees live this way, but in reality it is true. Bees are basically workers whose entire purpose is to make honey and make sure the hive is kept in order.
I am not sure who the author is. I haven’t read his book, but I feel like this quote made me laugh a couple of times.
In the book the author talks about how much money one beekeeper makes in a year. You can tell from the quote that he is trying to make a point, but it is obvious that he is in fact serious.
I was just thinking this morning – bees are not living this way, they are actually quite happy. I mean, they are able to live a long time, they are able to be big and make a lot of honey. I read a little while ago that bees only live a year, and then they die. I dont feel too sorry for them, but I feel that bees are not living this way.
I’m not sure if it is possible to make a living in beekeeping, but what happens when you stop paying your bees? You get a hive, and they die. You stop paying them. What then? Well, you get a hive, and they die. You stop paying them. You lose your hive.
I hope that what is currently happening to bees in this world isn’t the case with our own lives. Maybe it is a good sign that bees aren’t the only animals here on earth that die.
I found myself wishing that bees had more agency, but you know, I’m not even sure if it would actually happen. Bees don’t have a body, so they don’t die from that, but in a lot of ways they don’t have a brain either.
Just think of the things that bees are doing in the world. They keep things clean, they keep things away from us, they keep the air clean. They are the world’s most industrious creatures. There are a lot of things that bees do that we can do that we don’t even notice the difference between doing it ourselves and someone else doing it for us.
